Airport Transfer – Quito City Tour
Upon arrival at Quito International Airport, our Cotopaxi Travel team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Quito. Depending on your arrival time, we will begin with a cultural city tour through the historic center of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage city and one of the most beautiful colonial capitals in South America. During the visit, you will explore traditional plazas, colonial churches, narrow streets, viewpoints, and important historical areas that reflect the cultural identity of Ecuador. This first day is ideal for resting after your international flight, adapting to the altitude, and beginning your journey in the heart of the Andes.

Day 2
Quito – Quilotoa Lake – Latacunga
After breakfast, we travel south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes toward Quilotoa Lake, one of Ecuador’s most spectacular natural attractions. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful Andean landscapes, rural communities, agricultural fields, and panoramic views of the highlands. Quilotoa is a stunning volcanic crater lake located at approximately 3,914 m / 12,841 ft. Its turquoise-green waters change color depending on the sunlight, creating one of the most impressive landscapes in the Ecuadorian Andes. Upon arrival, we will visit the main viewpoints and enjoy time for photography. Travelers who want a more active experience may walk along part of the crater rim or descend toward the lake, depending on time and physical condition. In the afternoon, we continue to Latacunga for overnight accommodation.

Day 3
Latacunga – Baños de Agua Santa
After breakfast, we continue our journey toward Baños de Agua Santa, one of Ecuador’s most famous towns for nature, waterfalls, adventure, and relaxation. Located at the entrance to the Amazon basin and surrounded by green mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and the impressive Tungurahua Volcano, Baños offers a completely different landscape from the high Andes. Upon arrival, we will explore the town and its natural surroundings. Depending on the schedule, we can visit local viewpoints, walk through the town, enjoy the thermal atmosphere, or begin a light visit to nearby waterfalls. Baños is a perfect destination to combine nature, soft adventure, culture, and relaxation.

Day 4
Baños Waterfalls Route – Ilinizas Mountain Lodge
Esta mañana disfrutaremos de una de las experiencias más famosas de Baños: la Ruta de las Cascadas. Visitaremos hermosas cascadas como Agoyán, Manto de la Novia y el impresionante Pailón del Diablo, una de las cascadas más poderosas e icónicas de Ecuador.
Tras esta pintoresca experiencia en la región subtropical andina, regresamos a las tierras altas y viajamos hacia El Chaupi, un tranquilo pueblo de montaña situado en la Avenida de los Volcanes.
Por la tarde, llegamos al Ilinizas Mountain Lodge, un acogedor refugio de montaña rodeado de hermosos paisajes y con vistas a los volcanes Iliniza, Cotopaxi y Corazón. Este refugio ofrece un auténtico ambiente andino y es un lugar excelente para descansar antes de visitar el Parque Nacional Cotopaxi.

Day 5
Cotopaxi National Park
Después del desayuno en Ilinizas Mountain Lodge, nos dirigimos al Parque Nacional Cotopaxi, una de las áreas protegidas más emblemáticas de Ecuador. El parque alberga el volcán Cotopaxi, uno de los volcanes activos más altos del mundo, que alcanza los 5.897 m / 19.347 pies.
Dentro del parque, visitaremos la laguna Limpiopungo, un hermoso ecosistema de alta montaña rodeado de paisajes volcánicos, caballos salvajes, aves andinas e impresionantes vistas del Cotopaxi. Si las condiciones climáticas son favorables, podemos continuar hacia el estacionamiento del Cotopaxi y caminar cerca del Refugio José Rivas, a 4864 m / 15 953 pies de altitud.
Este día es ideal para la fotografía, la observación de la naturaleza, los paisajes panorámicos y el aprendizaje sobre la geografía volcánica de Ecuador.
Por la tarde, regresamos al albergue de montaña Ilinizas para cenar y pasar la noche.

Day 6
Ilinizas Mountain Lodge – Cayambe Volcano
After breakfast, we leave Ilinizas Mountain Lodge and travel north toward the Cayambe Volcano region. Cayambe is one of Ecuador’s most beautiful snow-capped volcanoes and reaches 5,790 m / 18,996 ft. It is also famous because it is the only major snow-covered mountain located directly on the Equator line.
Depending on weather and road conditions, we can drive toward the Cayambe-Coca National Park area and visit the Cayambe Refuge zone at approximately 4,600 m / 15,092 ft. From this area, travelers can enjoy spectacular views of the glacier, the highlands, and the northern Andes.
This day offers a powerful mountain experience without requiring a technical climb, making it perfect for travelers who want to see Ecuador’s glacier volcanoes up close.
After the visit, we continue toward the Otavalo or Cayambe area for overnight accommodation.

Day 7
Otavalo Market – Cuicocha Lake – Quito
Después del desayuno, exploraremos una de las regiones culturales más importantes de Ecuador. Comenzaremos con una visita al famoso Mercado Indígena de Otavalo, reconocido por sus coloridos textiles, ponchos, bufandas, artesanías, pinturas, joyas, instrumentos musicales y productos tradicionales andinos.
Este es uno de los mejores lugares de Ecuador para experimentar la cultura local, conocer a artesanos indígenas y comprar auténticos recuerdos hechos a mano.
Tras visitar Otavalo, continuamos hacia el lago Cuicocha, un hermoso lago de cráter volcánico situado a los pies del volcán Cotacachi. El lago cuenta con dos pequeñas islas en el centro y ofrece excelentes miradores para tomar fotografías y dar paseos cortos.
Por la tarde, regresamos a Quito para pasar la última noche del viaje.
