Take your mountaineering skills to the next level and conquer the highest point in Ecuador: Chimborazo (6,268 m / 20,564 ft). This 6-day program combines Glacier School + Acclimatization + Summit Climb, designed for climbers who want to improve their technical skills and achieve a challenging Andean ascent.

The program includes acclimatization hikes in the Andes, intensive glacier training on Cotopaxi’s glacier, and a full summit attempt of Chimborazo guided by ASEGUIM/UIAGM certified mountain guides. Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival & Acclimatization Hike to Saquihua

We begin the adventure in El Chaupi, a peaceful mountain village at 3,300 m. After arrival and a briefing with your guide, we take a light acclimatization hike to the nearby Saquihua Hill (3,900 m). This gentle trail offers stunning views of the Ilinizas and prepares your body for altitude.

Day 2

Iliniza Norte Summit

We head out early for a full-day ascent of Iliniza Norte, a non-technical peak and perfect acclimatization climb. The trail includes rocky terrain and light scrambling near the summit. It’s a great opportunity to test your endurance and get used to altitude.

Day 3

Glacier School on Cotopaxi Glacier

We travel to Cotopaxi National Park for a full day of practical glacier training on Cotopaxi’s glacier. Under expert supervision, you will learn essential mountaineering techniques: crampon use, self-arrest, crevasse rescue, rope team travel, and ice anchors. This hands-on course is perfect preparation for the Chimborazo climb.

Day 4

Transfer to Chimborazo Base & Technical Review

After breakfast, we drive south to Chimborazo’s base lodge or refuge. The rest of the day is for active rest, short walks around the refuge, and reviewing gear and climbing strategy for the summit. We sleep early in preparation for the midnight start.

Day 5

Chimborazo Summit Day (6,268 m)

We begin the climb at midnight. The route ascends across glaciers and volcanic terrain, requiring steady pace, good teamwork, and determination. Reaching the summit is an unforgettable experience — the closest point to the sun from Earth’s center! After photos and celebration, we descend back to the refuge.

Day 6

Return to Quito or Next Destination

After breakfast, we return to Quito or Latacunga with private transportation. Your mountaineering journey comes to an end — with new skills, confidence, and memories for life.

Yes. You should have basic high-altitude trekking experience. This course is designed for intermediate climbers seeking hands-on glacier training and a serious summit.

With good acclimatization and weather, our summit success rate is 75–85%.

We operate in small groups — max 2 clients per guide — for safety and personalized attention.

All technical glacier gear is included. We offer rental options for boots, jackets, pants, etc.

June to August and December to February are best due to more stable weather
